About working and traveling abroad
1) Do you cover instruments through airports? What is your current stance when taking equipment and instruments abroad on a plane, transported in the hold?- The equipment would need to be kept in ridged/hard bodied casing to be covered under the policy when in the hold of the plane. You would need a receipt or baggage tag confirming that this was handed over to the airline.
In the event of loss, you would need to report this to the airline immediately, and if the items have been stolen from your luggage you would also need to report this to the police in order to get a crime reference number.
We would not cover loss or theft if you have left the items unattended somewhere. Therefore if they have not been handed to a recognised transport company or put inside a locked room or cupboard or locked vehicle, they would not be covered if stolen or lost.

2) If I am abroad, have an accident and am hospitalised am I covered for hospital fees etc or do I need to take out separate travel insurance?- Under our Musicguard policy we would not cover fees for hospitalisation or hospital fees whilst you are abroad, therefore you may need to take out suitable travel insurance should you require cover for this.
3) Can I get a lower (ie European cover) and upgrade to full worldwide as necessary?- Yes, you can upgrade that part of your policy at any time throughout the year. Just login to your policy using the 'amend your policy' button and then navigate your way to the options selection. Select worldwide cover from the drop down list and then checkout. The increase in premium can then be paid by credit card or, if you paid by direct debit, it will be added to your monthly premium.
4) I am living in the UK on a working holiday visa till May next year, am I eligible for insurance?- Sorry, we are only able to provide insurance to UK residents that reside in the UK.
5) Can I limit my policy to a couple months, the duration of the tour?- Musicguard insurance is provided on an annual basis, we do not offer any cover on a short term or temporary basis which is often much less economical than annual cover.
6) I would like to take up an insurance policy but would like to know if you cover a guitar in air transit as I will shortly be going to Scotland.- You would be covered against damage in transit in the hold of a plane, however the guitar does need to be inside a rigid bodied case and you would need to obtain a receipt or written confirmation from the airline as proof that it has been handed over to them.
7) I am Australian and moving to the UK for a year. I have a guitar that I play for personal use that I want to insure it so that I can take it with me when I travel- can I insure with you?- If you are living permanently in the UK for the year we can provide cover for you, if you are travelling or just passing through the UK, then you should have taken out cover in the country you are domiciled in, in your case Australia, for cover anywhere in the world.
